WhatsApp QR Code vs official API
Veylo supports both connections side by side, so you can start today with a QR Code and move a number to the official API when it makes sense — without changing tools or losing history.
QR Code connection
You scan a QR Code, like WhatsApp Web, and the number keeps working on the phone. It is the fastest way to start and works well for day-to-day customer service. It is not Meta's official API, so it carries more risk if used for aggressive messaging.
Official API (Meta Cloud API)
The official route certified by Meta. It supports approved message templates to start conversations outside the 24-hour window, official quality ratings and higher, predictable volume. It is the right choice for broadcasts at scale.
Veylo connects official numbers in two ways: via the cloud, where the number leaves the phone and is handled only in Veylo, or via coexistence, where the number stays in the WhatsApp Business app and the same conversations are mirrored in Veylo (with up to 180 days of history imported).
Side by side
| QR Code | Official API | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup time | Minutes | Minutes, through Meta's signup |
| Phone app keeps working | Yes | Yes with coexistence; no with cloud |
| Message templates | No | Yes, approved by Meta |
| Messaging outside 24h | Free-form | Templates only |
| Best for | Daily service, starting fast | Broadcasts, scale, official numbers |
Frequently asked questions
Can I use both at the same time?
Yes. Each number is either QR Code or official, and all of them share the same inbox.
Who pays Meta's message fees?
On the official API, Meta bills the applicable messaging fees to your business account under its current pricing rules. Those fees are separate from your Veylo plan.
