How to set up pipeline stages
A pipeline only helps if each stage describes something that actually happened in the conversation. These rules keep it simple and useful.
Rules for good stages
- Name stages after a fact, not a feeling: “Proposal sent” instead of “Hot”.
- Keep between 5 and 8 stages. Veylo allows up to 12, but fewer is easier to maintain.
- Mark exactly one stage as Won and one as Lost.
- Give each open stage a weight (closing probability) to get a realistic revenue forecast.
A starting template
New → Qualified → Proposal sent → Negotiating → Won / Lost. Adapt the middle stages to your sales process — for example, add “Visit scheduled” for real estate or “Trial class” for gyms.
In Veylo
Open Pipeline → Edit stages to rename, reorder, color and weight each stage. Removing a stage asks where its opportunities should go, so no deal is lost. Moving a card to a stage can also trigger a flow automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Can each salesperson have a different pipeline?
The pipeline is shared by the account, which keeps reports comparable. Filters by owner show each salesperson's deals.
