How to organize contacts with tags

Tags are the simplest way to segment contacts — if you keep them few and meaningful.

Four kinds of tags

• Source: Instagram ad, Referral, Website.
• Interest: the product or service the person asked about.
• Priority: VIP, Hot lead.
• Situation: Waiting for documents, Returning customer.

Keep it under control

Start with 10 to 15 tags and create new ones only when someone needs to filter by them. Pipeline stage and owner are separate fields — don't duplicate them as tags.
